Nope! Learning to draw the human form is the goal with life drawing. It's not a necessity to draw a "perfect" body. I've done a lot of life drawing, and I've drawn men and women who were anywhere from grossly skinny to, shall we say, portly. It helps the artist to understand bone structure, musculature, and how and where fat sits on the body.
