On CD? The core catalog has only been re-mastered once. Before 9/9/09 the albums in stores were exactly the same as the 1987 discs, which were hit and miss. The first four original discs were rushed, mono mixes only (and mastered on a stereo tape machine). The packaging was pretty lame up through "Revolver". If anything these remasters were long overdue. They should have come out in the late 90's, right on the heels of the "Anthology" projects.?

Well, your problem is that your test isn't really all that accurate. You're playing a 720p video on a 1080p screen, which means it's stretched and will not look "clean".A real test is if you have two screens side by side, one with 720p native resolution and the other with 1080p native resolution, each playing a video of a resolution that matches the screen.Then, you can get into arguing about how much detail you can make out from a proper viewing distance (for a 22" screen, the appropriate viewing distance for video playback is around 2-3 feet).The key is proper viewing distance, not how much detail you can make out by walking up to it.A 100" screen at a distance of 11 feet or more, will not have noticeably more detail at 1080p than it will at 720p. A 60" screen requires a viewing distance of at least 6 feet, at which point you cannot really tell the difference between 720p and 1080p just by looking at it.If you walk closer or if you look very closely, you'll probably notice additional sharpness, but if you're just watching a movie, then contrast ratio, brightness and color representation are all more important than raw resolution, once you've reached 720p.
