I graduated from this school in '98. I'm really surprised that this article made it on Digg... the school is tiny. But for what it's worth I'd like to give you my opinion on the matter.Dan was a great, articulate teacher--something severely lacking at that school when I was going there. I read the original article that was optional for these "kids", the other day through a local news website. I loves me some science, and it was an interesting piece, however, the scientist has much more work to do. She might be on to something though... still it won't be a massive overhaul in Darwinian theory. That aside, I think the material is very age appropriate. Dan's apology, I'm guessing, was more coerced than sincere. He knows just as well as I that the area is prudish, bigoted, racist, and the like. Of course many people would be offended by what "happened" to their kids, but Health class still teaches Sex Ed at 5th grade, with a reiteration/in depth teaching Freshman year. From what I remember, the other English classes brought up many manuscripts/material that in its time or another had sparked debates and were socially crucial. In my opinion he was given flack simply because of the material mentioning Darwin's theories outside of science class. There are a lot right-wing Christians... very fundamental in that area. It's really no surprise at all that they raised hell, and turned it into a charade about something else.Not only is Dan a great teach, but he's a bad-ass guitar player... I guess he's really playing the blues now. What a shame.
First, I am a republican. I think Christie is better than Corzine and the people of NJ made the right choice, but it is not indicative of ANYTHING beyond the state of NJ. You would have to assume that the people voted entirely along party lines, which is wrong, but becomes completely absurd when you think that someone will vote for / against somebody to show their support for Obama. The kind of people who show up to vote for Governors know know they are voting for. Liberal and Conservative pundits played this up to be more than it is, the latter will continue, and the former will go into spin mode to the level of extreme hypocrisy (It would be vise versa if it happened the other way).

The only things I read were "New York" and "douchebag" yet, oddly, I'm at peace with the world.Also, if other companies wanted to compete against Intel they could offer a superior product.
