This would be a fun project:1) Aggregate all comments with links in a given set of new front page stories2) Figure out what percentage of stories following that set are just created from those links.Go a step further and start predicting the stories that will appear, feeding stories outside of your prediction set as training data/feedback into your system.Then shut down the 'submit' feature. :)

“I think it's great Apple is trying to make a move forward and keep shows profitable. I do not subscribe to cable anymore, I download straight into my media center and honestly feel a bit guilty because i am contributing nothing to keeping the show on the air. I use ITunes to buy the music I like and would like to do the same for my TV programs. This is a good move I think and sure it may fail or not. At least someone is trying. I would rather have a way to give back to the creators of the shows without the forced advertising and adherence to some networks schedules. This way the good shows would be voted upon by the people who actually pay for and watch them. Not clever statistics and graphs from a network.If this was already in play shows like Firefly would have never disappeared. I would pay to keep quality programming on the air.

I only know the reason I do it .. which is so I can use another network.Otherwise, the main benefits for me are:1. MMS - Jailbreak lets me enable native MMS, or let me use SwirlyMMS (1st gen iphone)2. Firewall application3. Ad blocking ( not asking for moral opinions, just saying )4. Google voice app5. QuickSMS (I can reply to SMS while staying in whatever app I have up)6. Themes for springboard7. Mods to add more than 4 rows of apps (up to 6 now with smaller icons)8. Backgrounder, I can run more than one app at a time (playing music in lastfm while doing other things) 9. To sum it up ... freedom to do what I want with my deviceThere's a bunch of other tweaks and apps in cydia that just make the experience better..Cydia is my preferred installer

This is not the first time Unisys has been ass-hats, about a decade ago they wanted to copyright the patterned ".gif" technology. And stated that people would have to obtain permission by Unisys to use any .gif image. Otherwise Unisys threatened to Sue...These folks are right up there with SCO and their misadventures trying to copyright the Unix (and any "like") OS...
