It has to use only the Java API that google provides, which makes it harder for developers to code for it, and harder for linux users to get software. Maemo is basically a Debian distro, which will run any linux software that supports a smaller GUI for mobil apps.

Capitalism benefits tremendously from illegal drugs. They get to launder the illegal money through the banks, seize property without due process, increase police budgets, use it as an excuse to invade other countries to control the supply , shut down competition from medicinal plants for the pharmaceutical companies drugs ( some of those companies are owned by the families of politicians ie like Dan Quayle's family who make all the components that go into crystal meth ). Also let's not forget how the government imports the drugs to pay for black budget projects such as we found out in the Iran-Contra hearings. It also gives them an excuse to put people in jail, where corporations enslave the prisoners and have them looking into your credit records while they data mine for fortune 500 companies.Oh and let's not forget DARE the program that teaches kids to do drugs, so they can later be fed into the prison system..

Is this really surprising? The corporate structure demands efficiency and we've seen this pattern before. We've seen this happen in the manufacturing industry and it was only a matter of time before the IT followed. Corporate economics is brutal and it is adapt or die for companies out there. If Nike pays a few pennies per hour and no benefits to its workers in Honduras to get clothes manufactured, the choice is simple for its competitors in the US. Either cut your costs, or lose the entire company trying to save American jobs. I'm not saying that its the right thing to do but that's how it works. It sucks and it hurts to lose your job but stop blaming the execs for your problems and move on. Look at all the "made in xxxxx" tags next time you're out shopping at Walmart and think about that for a second.
