"Who on earth uses handwriting for the English alphabet?"Who on Earth prefers an iPhone-like onscreen keyboard over a good handwriting recognition system?! For any quick notes where you don't want to bother opening the keyboard (when there is a keyboard) and need to keep your eyes on other things (ie, keep your eyes out of the screen), there is no other reasonable choice. The point is, a capacitive screen limits what you can do with your device: you can't use its screen for any task that requires precision. A resistive screen limits how you can do things with your device ("multitouch" gestures can be adapted for single-touch usage), and even that is changing (there are patents for multitouch hardware on resistive screens).

Something similar happened to me last year during the presidential election. All they had at my voting precint (in Virginia) were computers. I asked if I could cast my vote by paper. They seemed bewildered, and tried to figure out what to do. Eventually they called their supervisor, and were told that I couldn't vote by paper, that I had to vote using the computer or not vote. In the end, I gave in and just voted on the computer (was wife getting annoyed with me). Virginia doesn't have no-excuse absentee voting, so I couldn't vote that way.I'm hardly a Luddite. I'm a computer programmer, and definitely a tech enthusiast, but I think most techies should be wary of these computerized voting systems where no real verification exists..
I love that movie. We watch it every year on Xmas Eve...!

The first iPhone was released in June, 2007. The problem with Apple releasing new iPhone models too frequently is that most of us current iPhone users are locked into two year contracts, so new models have to focus largely on new users to the platform. Is there enough demand for Apple to put the iPhone on a six month refresh cycle rather than a one year cycle?OR... I'll take a SWAG at it and say that they could be building up inventory for the release of the Verizon-enabled iPhone. If Apple were to release the Verizon iPhone, it would be a whole new market they would be tapping, and they would want to have a hefty inventory on hand for the launch.?
Michael: Did you see the game last night?Jim: Which one?Michael: Any of 'em? |

I originally thought the same about the Sesame Street toys, but then I remembered that I have a stuffed Oscar on my shelf from 25 years ago. Those characters are timeless (as long as the show is still being aired for new viewers) and it's one of those toys I never threw out. The timelessness of the toys I guess, is that today's Oscar doesn't look much different from the decades old one I have.As for Lego requiring a strong grip, they also make a line called Duplo which are easier for younger children to push together or pull apart. The company used to have another line, called Primo or Baby, for smaller children, which were even easier to push together, but from looking at their website it looks like those are discontinued.
