I played with one of their Booklets at Best Buy a couple days ago. Very nice design, and Windows 7 seemed to run very well on it. I thought the keys would take a bit of getting used to, but overall I was very impressed with the design of the system itself, easily the best looking netbook on the market.Sadly I'm not able to choke down the $600 price tag for a non-subsidized model, nor can I readily afford the $60/month in 3G broadband access, otherwise I'd probably own one by now.
Solar power??? When will people learn!

@Tenareth - I did a bit of research on the size of the screens of both devices. They in fact both have a main screen measuring 6in and a secondary screen measuring 3.5in. It is fine if you dislike the Alex and love the nook, but the reasoning you're giving isn't based in reality. The only reason the Alex looks bigger is they used two different scale pics for each device.http://www.slashgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/1 ... if you want to see a side-by-side comparison that is properly scaled. The one with the "huge" main screen is in fact the Nook. So...@RJ0534 - The original iPod had a really great interface and functionality compared to a lot of the competition, so it had looks and function(and the backing of the really popular commercials). I think people are going to buy the Nook based on the fact that not many people know who the hell Spring Design is whereas nearly every book enthusiast knows Barnes & Noble. I don't think looks will even come into play, because the majority of people won't even see the Alex (unless this lawsuit works and they force B&N to sell the Alex instead or something wild)..
Aid workers don't go to Afghanistan to help Afghans. They go there to stroke their own egos. The same is true of missionaries. Remember those stupid Korean missionaries who got kidnapped in Afghanistan? That's probably the only time I rooted for the Taliban during the present conflict. You want to help humanity? Go discover/invent something. Start a business that employs people, lobby congress to lift agricultural tariffs so those currently living as subsistence farmers can export their products to America and earn a decent living.!

Seriously. There are 2, and only 2 arguments against the public option, and they are diametrically opposed.1) It'll be too good and wipe out all the private insurers, becoming single-payer.2) It will be less efficient than private insurance and will simply be a waste of money.#2 is solved because, since it's optional, if nobody joins it then it costs no money. Besides- it's paid for by premiums, not taxes. Therefore, it's worth enacting even if there's the CHANCE it could slow the 3*inflation growth of health costs.#1 shouldn't even be a concern, since the job of health care reform is to get people health care, not look out for health insurance companies.

They already have those in some Tokyo stations; off the top of my head, I think Roppongi it-chome and other Namboku line stations have them, among others. But the article mentions that it's very expensive, and that's why they're trying other things before installing platform fences in every station. There are thousands of train platforms in the Tokyo area, so installing fences at all of them is going to take an extensive amount of time and money. I don't think the blue lights are going to work, but hey, it's cheaper.Edit: Yeah, in fact, here's a pic of the station I mentioned that I dug up on Wikipedia,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Roppongi_1chome- ...
